ONAWAY, MI. – Moran Iron Works recently received a contract from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to build a research vessel for it’s Green Bay, Wisconsin field office. The aluminum-hulled vessel will be nearly 57 feet long and feature twin diesel engines, along with the equipment needed for the service to conduct its research on the Great Lakes. MIW will be fabricating the vessel in our Onaway, Michigan facility over the next 9-12 months, with an expected launch at MIW’s Port Calcite facility in Rogers City, Michigan during late-summer 2017.
