Open Position: Project Manager

Project Manager – Success Criteria

Goal: To professionally manage and execute projects for success from award to completion.

Directly reports to the Project Operations Manager.

Duties, Responsibilities, & Expectations:

  • Handling all aspects of the project from award (estimating handoff) to completion.
  • Coordination of all project specific procedures/tasks/deliverables. As outlined in the MIW project management manual.
  • Communicating and collaborates with all departments what the project goals and expectations are.
  • Initiating and setting up the project specific execution plan and team kick off meeting.
  • Coordination of all project specific meetings and insuring all required personnel attend.
  • Managing and prioritizing assistant’s duties and tasks.
  • All customer correspondence, verbal and written.
  • Keeping sales and marketing updated on project deliverables.
  • Project performance as it compares to project estimate and updates estimating accordingly on internal/external change orders.
  • Developing and maintaining the project specific master schedule and manpower loading.
  • Developing and maintaining the project specific action list.
  • Project specific documentation to be maintained and filed properly.
  • Project specific job releases.
  • Completion of the project specific progress reports the customer and the MIW sales representative.
  • Insuring that the accounting department is invoicing accordingly per the milestone schedule and or the invoicing schedule.
  • Completion of the project close out report.
  • Barge logistics for projects that require barging.

Success Criteria:

  • Attendance & Punctuality: Standard working hours are from 6:00am to 4:00pm or as required to accomplish project goals and expectations. Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time. Is professional both in conduct and attire.
  • Analytical & Problem Solving: Collects, researches, and analyzes data; Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Develops alternative solutions; Participates in group problem solving.

  • Schedules and organizes logistics for all manpower and equipment for all rolling stock for use by our work crews

Candidate Requirements:

  • Associate degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management
  • Detailed-oriented with strong organizational, planning, and tracking skills required
  • Must exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously
  • Be adaptable and adjust to changing project scopes and timelines
  • Ability to handle a variety of responsibilities with little supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Must possess a friendly and professional attitude; a true team player
  • Must exhibit good judgment
  • Professional demeanor with a high energy level, strong work ethic and punctuality
  • Master in all Microsoft Office applications with strong emphasis on Excel
  • Mechanical, structural steel, drafting, detailing, design experience a plus

Estimator – Success Criteria

Job Brief

Moran Iron Works, Inc., is looking for a diligent Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics.

The ideal candidate will have excellent mathematical, analytical and organizational skills. In addition, will have the talent to work in harmony within a team environment.

Duties, Responsibilities, & Expectations:

  • Researches available jobs that are listed in trade publications and directories and pursues customer inquires to reveal project scope, schedule, and related specifications.
  • Familiarizes himself/herself with all drawings, specifications and related contract documents. Determines at that time if subcontractors may be needed for the project based on schedule, project scope, and MIW current work load.
  • Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)
  • Develops and utilizes appropriate bid worksheets and ensures that all necessary information from the contract documents are included in a detailed project write-up and proposal.
  • Communicates with potential customers whenever questions, additional information, and / or more specific information is needed in regards to the project being quoted.
  • Tracks all submitted bids until each bid has been awarded. If and when a bid is awarded to MIW, the estimator ensures that all information is directed through the proper channels for further processing. If a bid has not been awarded to MIW, the estimator reviews the costs associated with a competitor’s bid and critiques each bid process to identify and learn concepts that can be applied for future bids.
  • Maintains an orderly and current historical file of all quotes that have been placed.
  • Responsible for identifying and developing new ideas and work methods for improving the efficiency, accuracy, and the thoroughness of this position.
  • Maintaining the “Jobs Complete Master List” to ensure accurate costs are documented for use during new estimations.

Candidate Requirements:

  • College courses in advanced math, Excel and engineering, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Ability to read Blue Prints
  • Two years proven experience as estimator or similar position
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Familiarity with project management principles
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks preferred

Open Position: Clean-up Crew

Clean-up Crew – Success Criteria

Goal: To work safely and productively with fellow crew members to ensure shop facilities are tidy and equipped with a work safe environment for next day production.

Directly Reports to: Facility/Equipment Manager

Duties, Responsibilities, & Expectations:

  • Obtain all duties within shift hours.
  • To work as a member of a team working to accomplish daily/weekly goals directed by Supervisor.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Responsible for sweeping floors and returning tools to crib and tool carts.
  • Responsible for taking out garbage’s and recycle bins in all bays, machine shop and crane barn.
  • Fuel and clean vehicles on an as needed basis.
  • Mow Grass at multiple facilities.
  • Shovel snow at multiple facilities.
  • Responsibly for turning off all lights, compressors and locking doors securely before leaving at the end of shift.

Code of Conduct:
